There can be no better way for SonicAbuse to kick off 2011 than with a vital blast of alternative rock courtesy of four excellent bands playing a SonicAbuse sponsored night at The Shed in Leicester on January 19th. While previous nights have featured such excellent artists as The Resonance Association and Alunah, we possibly have the most exciting line up yet this January as we have managed to secure French band Royal Mcbee Corporation (who headline the night), London based grunge/metal rockers Avenge Thee And Naime, the wonderful Midlands based Grunge band Third Angle Projection (who recently wowed us with their single “1000 miles” which you can download now on itunes) and Leicester based alternative band Final Coil who recently released the corrosive “Waste yr time” single through MrsVee records.
Headline act Royal Mcbee Corporation are a well respected and urgent French duo who have been punishing ear drums with their sonically challanging art rock for just over four years. Releasing their music through the Swarm records imprint (also home to the mighty Josh), they have put out a number of excellent EPs and singles and we are mightily proud to be playing host to them next week. You can learn more through the band’s myspace site here.
Adding an air of unpredictability are the seriously awesome Canterbury rockers Avenge thee and naime who have a reputation for playing in the middle of the floor rather than on the stage and whose music rocks like a bastard. Fans of metal, hardcore and alternative can all unite behind this band who cover all the bases with a sweaty, punk rock attitude that will get people moving whether they want to or not! You can check them out here.
The third band on the line up are the wonderful and melodic grunge act Third Angle Projection whose recent single “1000 miles” only hints at the excellent music which they produce on stage. Fronted by the charismatic Arron Tipper and featuring some heart-felt and energetic tracks they fit nicely onto the bill and are always a guarantee of a good night. Comparisons to Nirvana are only part of the picture and the band’s unpredictable set lists, well played covers and stage-trashing finale are alwas a highlight of any evening. Learn more here.
The Final band on the bill is Leicester’s own Final Coil, an alternative rock band who draw comparisons to Tool and Alice in Chains in equal measure. With recent single “waste yr time” proving to be popular and a mini-album set to be released through MrsVee at the beginning of February, the band always guarantee to play with a punk-infused energy and to provide twisted vocal harmonies, sheets of feedback and heavy metal energy. You can find out more here.
SonicAbuse night takes place on Wednesday 19th Jan at the Shed in Leicester. Entry is £3.00 whcih in these expensive times is the biggest bargain of the year.
