Artist collective and home-grown label Eulogy Media present one of this year’s most promising co-headline tours from the UK’s progressive death metal underground scene.

Despite the slow-but-steady demise of alternative venues nationwide, Britain remains one of the most prominent sources of extreme metal on an international scale. It’s with this threat on the horizon that two of the more auspicious acts to emerge from this country’s progressive death metal scene head out to answer a well placed demand.

Described by The Guardian newspaper as “cerebral but endlessly soulful… an extraordinarily assured and involving work”, ‘The Whisperer’ by Mancunian quartet Spires was released this winter and has quickly gathered considerable support in national and international press, drawing comparisons with Ihsahn, Opeth and Ne Obliviscaris. Their live show further confirms their notable talent for razor-sharp accuracy and precision in support of their particular blend of blackened harshness, thundering death metal and beguiling melody.

Norwich’s Agonyst reliably provide a unique and undeniably edgy stage persona, combining fretboard pyrotechnics, stupefying polyrhythmic command and communication with their audience that goes beyond mere eccentricity. Their crazed blend of extremity and frenetic technical skill places them in an almost indefinable pocket of progressive metal that their forthcoming full length release ‘Bad Old Days’ at the end of this Spring will confirm.

As part of the Southern leg of the tour, both Spires and Agonyst will be joined by Candlelight Records’ British death metal heavyweights Ancient Ascendant on their London date at Camden’s legendary Devonshire Arms – a lineup that simply cannot be missed.

With both tour-mates coming in to the Eulogy Media family, Spires & Agonyst join Rannoch, talanas, Dām and Beth Ryan as part of a collective of like-minded acts who aim to re-model the association of the ‘signed artist’ with its own roster-led self sufficiency.

April 3rd – Manchester (Rebellion Bar)
April 4th – Wakefield (Snooty Fox)
April 10th – Winchester (The Railway)
April 11th – London (Devonshire Arms) w. Ancient Ascendant
April 24th – Wellingborough (Raffs Bar)
April 25th – Bury St. Edmunds (The Rehearsal Rooms)
