His solos are blistering, his vocals faultless and, behind him, one of the best blues bands ever to grace a stage.
Forget about ‘blues album of the year’, ‘blues of desperation’ is simply candidate for the album of the year and it’s hard to imagine anyone supplanting this sublime effort.
Roll on the next tour, because, judging by the raucous reception he received in Nottingham, it can’t come soon enough.
